PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENT

The Institute for Small-Scale Industries (ISSI), the organizing committee of the International Conference on Entrepreneurship and SME Development ( ICESMED), commits to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the University of the Philippines in its pursuit of  honor, excellence, and service. ISSI  shall  uphold  high standards of quality and academic integrity in the publication of scholarly work.

The ICESMED Proceedings is a double-blind reviewed research output which serves as a platform to publish the presented studies during the Conference.

ISSI is dedicated to adhere to the highest publication standards. The following are the acceptance criteria for inclusion of work in the conference proceedings: originality, quality, relevance to the theme/scope,  significance and contribution to the fields of entrepreneurship and SME development.

It shall also expect research outputs to adhere to the values identified  by the UP Task Force for Research Integrity. These principles include honesty, responsibility, rigor, transparency, respect, fairness and professional courtesy and diversity.

In addition, the Institute  shall follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (https://publicationethics.org/). ISSI will not tolerate any form of malpractice such as plagiarism and data falsification. Authors, reviewers, and editors must uphold these standards of ethics throughout the publication process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Author

  • confirm that their research is original
  • properly acknowledge and cite sources
  • submit papers which have not been published or not currently being reviewed on another journal
  • acknowledge the individuals or organizations which made significant contributions to the research
  • cooperate with the editing process through providing information requested by the editors and  addressing comments in a prompt manner
  • disclose any potential conflict of interest
  • disclose the use of AI, including the tool/s and the nature/extent of its use
  • promptly notify the editor or publisher in correcting or retracting an error discovered after publication
  • agree with the publication and copyrights agreement prior to the publication of their paper/s in the proceedings

Reviewers and Editors

    • consider and treat  manuscripts as confidential documents
    • review manuscripts objectively and provide constructive, unbiased feedback
    • evaluate papers without regard to the race, SOGIE, religious affiliation, ethnicity, and political beliefs, and citizenship
    • refrain from providing personal, unrelated comments to the authors or to the content
    • declare any potential conflict of interests

Review and Editorial Process

The submitted manuscripts will undergo rigorous double-blind peer review from external experts. Only original and unpublished full papers who passed the double-blind review and the publisher’s review  will be considered for inclusion in the proceedings.

Courtesy and Respect

 In exercising their responsibilities, it is imperative that the organizing committee, editors, reviewers, and authors will observe respect and courtesy at all times.

Dealing with Misconduct

ISSI reserves the right to conduct an investigation on misconduct. The process will be based on the Guidelines on Good Publication Practice by the Committee on Publication Ethics.

Copyright and Access

Authors must concur  with the publication and copyright agreement before publishing the manuscripts in the proceedings. They can also freely share their papers and enable public access through the archives of the ICESMED.

Author Fees

There will be no fees to be collected from authors with accepted manuscripts. The expenses for the processing of the proceedings will be charged from the income derived
from the ICESMED registration fees.

Archiving

The issues of ICESMED Proceedings will be archived and posted on the ISSI’s website.

Publishing Schedule

With the conference being conducted every two years, the proceedings will be targeted to be published every three years.
