Two UP ISSI staff, Antonette L. Dungca, head of the Research Division, and Joanna Rose T. Laddaran, also of the Research Division, were among the 369 international delegates who recently attended the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) World Conference and Exhibition in London, England. Dungca and Laddaran are both BCI affiliate members.
Besides gathering practitioners who were involved in business continuity and resilience, risk management, emergency planning, and IT and disaster recovery, the event also showcased the latest innovations in emergency response from communication software applications (which may be used to track employees and clients during disasters) to data recovery, workplace recovery and others.
As the only representatives from the Philippines, Dungca and Laddaran shared UP ISSI’s efforts in promoting business continuity in the country through research initiatives and capacity-building training programs done in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry and other government and private institutions.
The conference, which was held 8 and 9 November 2016, provided significant insights and sharing of best practices in business continuity and resilience, which will be useful in improving ISSI’s business continuity planning modules. Further, the insights will provide inputs to future studies that will focus on the resilience of Philippine micro, small and medium enterprises.
