Twenty four participants received their certificates of completion last Saturday during the closing ceremonies of the first batch of the Mechatronics National Servicing III course. The program was conducted from 24 March to 5 May 2018 at the UP ISSI Low Cost Automation (LCA) room. This program is part of the Memorandum of Agreement between UP ISSI and Mechatronics Technologies Corporation (MTC) which was renewed last April 2018.

The program is a preparation course for the Mechatronics  NC III assessment exam which will be organized and conducted by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) representative.

At the onset, the participants were exposed to the emergence of IoT or 4th industrial revolution, as well as the importance of safety and security in the plant area. The meat of the training were the concepts and applications of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The participants demonstrated how to program, configure and connect Omron and Siemens PLCs.

Majority of the participants were in the academe, particularly the faculty and school administrators of International Electronics and Technical Institute (IETI). Ms Elvie Acedo, school directress of IETI Alabang, delivered the participants’ response to the program. In her speech, she gave gratitude to the people behind the program and described how it [training] affected their personal development. “This was  a special training for us, and we are using this platform [to help] us develop our technical skills set for the betterment of our works,” she said. “I know that our lives or careers will soon change because of [these] newly acquired skills,” she added.

Another one of UP ISSI’s technical courses, the first batch of Instrumentation and Control NC III, is set to hold their closing ceremonies on 12 May 2018.
