DOST-PCAARRD, ISSI collaborate with LIPAD Project

DOST-PCAARRD partners with UP ISSI to Level-up Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources-based Startups, Spinoffs

The Department of Science and Technology’s Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST PCAARRD) collaborates with the University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI) thru another major project titled, “Levelling-Up of Innovative Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources-based Startups/Spinoffs thru Promotion, Assistance, and Development (LIPAD) Project”. The project is DOST PCAARRD’s Technology Commercialization Team’s response to the entrepreneurial challenges of AANR-based startups/spinoffs and incubatees of the DOST PCAARRD-supported Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubators in commercializing their technologies.  The LIPAD Project aims to provide mentorship and other intervention measures to thirty-two startups/spinoffs to become sustainable enterprises. The inception meeting for the seven initially approved startup/spinoff enterprises was held on February 14, 2022. The call for proposals to complete the line-up will start in Q2 of the year.

The LIPAD Project has a two-year implementation plan led by Ms. Marsha Lee A. Delfinado of the Business Enterprise Development Division of UP ISSI. UP ISSI is supportive of DOST PCAARRD’s programs and initiatives.  The first collaboration of DOST PCAARRD and UP ISSI is an ongoing project titled, “Science for the Convergence of Agriculture and Tourism or SciCAT Project” led by Mr. Reynold Ferdinand G. Manegdeg of UP ISSI.
