The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the ensuing quarantine restrictions imposed by the Philippine government have had a profound impact on women entrepreneurs, causing total or partial closure of their enterprises, significant drop in their incomes and increased domestic responsibilities, among others. But despite the unprecedented impacts of the pandemic and the challenges it imposed, women entrepreneurs have also shown their resilience, innovation and leadership through this crisis. They diversified their products and services to address the current needs, i.e. produced PPEs, masks, alcohol, etc. Depending on the available resources and capacity, some of them shifted their business operations online. Some maximized the reduced operating hours to develop more products and upgrade their skills  by attending online training programs.

As an institution promoting gender equality and women empowerment in the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector, the UP ISSI recognizes and applauds women entrepreneurs for the resilience and leadership they have demonstrated in the most difficult times. In this webinar, women entrepreneurs will share their experiences during this pandemic, particularly the challenges they faced, the strategies they employed, the support they received that helped them the most and further assistance needed. Through these stories, the webinar aims to inspire other entrepreneurs.

This webinar is part of the Communities of Practice for Entrepreneurship (COPE) program of UP ISSI, which aims to promote entrepreneurship education by knowledge exchange among MSME owners, government agencies, and private organizations engaged in MSME development.
