UP ISSI Spearheads Gender Sensitivity Training-Workshop

To raise awareness about the Philippine mandates on gender and development and the impact of gender sensitivity among employees in their workspaces, the University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI) conducted a Gender Sensitivity Training to the employees of RBGM Medical Express Sales, Inc. on February 17, 2023 at Variance Trading Corporation Auditorium in Quezon City. 

Affiliated companies Magis Academy Inc., Kaizen Security Agency Corporation, Four as Food and Catering services, and Variance Trading Corporation also partook in the training workshop to equip themselves with the knowledge and strategies in promoting a gender-sensitive environment. 

Senior Gender and Development Officer Cindy Cruz-Cabrera from the UP Diliman Gender Office highlighted the discussion on the Introduction to the Legal Bases on Advocating Gender Sensitivity Awareness and Gender and Development, while SOGIE and Training Officer Giano Ray C. Potes from the same office focused on the GAD concepts: gender roles, stereotypes, and biases.

De Leon, University Extension Specialist from the Office of Anti-Sexual Harassment of UP Diliman emphasized crucial points in promoting safe spaces and strengthening responses to sexual harassment in the workplace, while UP ISSI Gender and Development Focal Person and University Extension Specialist Jake A. Villanueva discussed strategies on developing and promoting a Gender-sensitive Environment, and Gender-sensitive Communication and Leadership.

Laddaran, University Extension Specialist from UP ISSI and the Program Manager of the training. 

PM Laddaran also emphasized during the closing ceremony that she hopes they can use their learning not only in enriching their knowledge but also to strengthen their organization and respective communities. 

PM Laddaran and Program Coordinator Krystel Maisie Soria served as the program management team.
