UP ISSI attends La Union’s business forum, trade fair

Two representatives from the University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries partook in the Investment and Business Forum of the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) and La Union’s Fairest in Mandaluyong City, November 14.
Director Melanie M. Moraga-Leano and University Extension Specialist Jake Villanueva attended the two events as one of the partners of PGLU in empowering the economic landscape of the province not only for potential investors but also to entrepreneurs and tourists.
The forum gathered existing and potential partners including the various offices of the provincial government. La Union Governor Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David, the first female governor of the province, shared the developments, economic growth and projects, and future plans of the province including the recent awards they received.
After the forum, UP ISSI also attended the opening program of La Union’s Fairest 2024 which highlighted the local products of the province at Shangri-La Plaza last Nov. 14 to 18, 2024. PGLU also reported that they reached Php 4, 749, 907.50 in total sales during the fair.
Since 2023, UP ISSI has been PGLU’s partner in empowering the MSME sector of the province. Last July 2024, UP ISSI spearheaded a Seminar-Workshop on Enterprise Development for the MSMEs of La Union.
