Dr. de Vera presented the results of their dairy market survey, which is a component of the research project titled “Market analysis of local milk and dairy products in the Philipines,” a project collaboration with the National Dairy Authority (NDA) and the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF), to which Dr. de Vera is the project director.
During his presentation, Dr. de Vera emphasized the current demographics, perceptions, attitudes, and consumption habits of Filipino dairy consumers, which sought to provide insights on the viable means for local milk and dairy products to be widely accepted by Filipinos.
Representatives from the national and local government agencies, academe, and private sector also presented an array of topics on the Philippine dairy value chain, including innovations in dairy farming, animal nutrition, and dairy market trends.
With this year’s theme “Advancing DAIRYpreneurship, Innovation, Nutrition, Sustainability, and Food Security,” the dairy summit highlighted the existing gaps and opportunities to boost the local dairy industry and attain higher milk sufficiency in the country.
