ISSI conducts BEST for the Youth program
The project team from the Training and Entrepreneurship Education Division of the University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries prepared business topics during the conduct of the Building Entrepreneurial Skills Training (BEST) for the Youth program on April 26 and May 3, 2025.
To provide opportunities for the youth to learn relevant topics, gain practical skills and enhance their critical thinking skills in developing a business-mindset and entrepreneurial skills, BEST for the Youth highlighted Digital Marketing and Building Personal Brand, and Basic Accounting and Financial Statements during the fourth and fifth sessions respectively.

“Digital marketing helps us understand how people connect, decide, and trust in today’s world. For small businesses, it opens new ways to reach customers – beyond location, beyond size. It shows that you can be seen and chosen, even if you’re starting small,” said Ms. Amrei Dizon, Co-founder of Introspeck Management Consultancy and resource person during the fourth session.
Ms. Dizon also added that this aspect of business gives the youth the space to speak up and been as many of them build their businesses from homes, their phones, their communities.
“Digital platforms let them show what they stand for, reach people who believe in what they do, and grow at their own pace. It also opens doors for those who are left out – those in far-flung areas, those with different learning styles, those who need flexible ways of working… it gives them a fighting chance,” stated Dizon.

Moreover, University Extension Specialist II from TEED Maria Fe SE Reyes served as the resource person in the fifth session guiding the students through several exercises in basic accounting.
The BEST for the Youth program is one of the three extension grantees from the unit which was approved and funded by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development of the UP Diliman.
