OVCRD Holds 2025 Assessment and Realignment Planning Workshop in Laguna

Cavinti, Laguna — The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development (OVCRD) of the University of the Philippines Diliman successfully conducted its 2025 Assessment and Realignment Planning Workshop from August 6 to 8, 2025 at Mountain Lake Resort in Cavinti, Laguna. The three-day event gathered OVCRD units for a comprehensive review of accomplishments, identification of challenges, and formulation of strategies to enhance the university’s research initiatives.

Strategic Collaboration and Evaluation

The workshop opened with an inspiring message from Vice Chancellor Carl Michael F. Odulio, Ph.D., who emphasized the importance of strategic alignment and collaboration.

Representatives from OVCRD units —Administrative unit of OVCRD, Office of Extension Coordination (OEC), Research Dissemination Office (RDO), Research Management Office (RMO), UP Diliman Technology Transfer and Business Development Office (UPD-TTBDO), UP Center for Ethnomusicology (UPCE), and UP Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI)  — presented updates on their achievements, shared innovative practices, and addressed operational challenges. A dynamic open forum followed, encouraging a productive exchange of insights and ideas.

Interactive Sessions and Skills Building

The second day featured breakout sessions focused on unit-specific concerns and collaborative projects, followed by two meaningful workshops. The Vetting Workshop sharpened participants’ skills in evaluating research proposals, while the Interpersonal Conflict Management Workshop — led by UP ISSI Director Melanie M. Moraga-Leaño — offered practical tools for addressing workplace conflicts.

“Conflict often arises when we expect others to think, act, and react the way we do,” Moraga-Leaño explained. “By understanding differing perspectives and the factors that drive conflict, we can turn these moments into opportunities for resolution and stronger collaboration.”

A synthesis session reviewed the workshop’s key takeaways, concluding with a fellowship dinner that fostered deeper camaraderie among participants.
