47 Professionals Join 82nd PES Course to Strengthen Supervisory Excellence



To develop and enhance the knowledge, skills, and attitudes for the effective and efficient management of both people and operations, a total of 47 participants with supervisory, specialist and early career roles enrolled in the 82ndProductivity through Effective Supervision (PES) course of the University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries held at UP ISSI building on February 14.
The training course will run for six consecutive Saturdays and aims to strengthen the competencies of the participants in leadership, communication, productivity improvement, and problem-solving in the workplace.
Among the participants, 22% have supervisory positions, 16% serve in specialist roles, while 12% are management trainees. Meanwhile, other participants hold positions in finance, sales and marketing, operations, human resources, and technical functions.
Mr. Henry O. Palaca, President of Quality Plus Management Consulting Co. and an alumnus of UP Diliman, served as the resource person on the first session. He focused on personal effectiveness, understanding management functions and the supervisor’s roles, and managing quality and productivity.
Palaca also emphasized the crucial role of supervisors in in achieving organizational effectiveness and sustaining productivity improvements.
The program management team composed of Mx. Jake A. Villaneva, Ms. Krystel Maisie T. Soria and Ms. April Joyce Yumul facilitate the implementation of the training and participant engagement.
Participants are expected to apply their learning through their Back Home Action Plan (BHAP) reports which they need to present during the evaluation session of the program.
The PES course is one of UP ISSI’s flagship supervisory development programs designed to equip current and aspiring supervisors with practical tools and strategies to improve productivity, strengthen team performance, and enhance operational efficiency within their organizations.
