UP ISSI is celebrating its 50 years of existence this year.
Last August 5, it bannered Tara Na, Negosyo Na, a seminar on starting a business for aspiring entrepreneurs to spearhead this year’s golden anniversary while the formal celebration will be held on 25 November 2016 at the Institute’s open plaza.
Special guests from the private and public sectors, including the Netherlands ambassador to the Philippines, as well as former staff and directors are invited to honor the Institute’s 50 years of service to the nation.
UP President Alfredo E. Pascual and UP Diliman Chancellor Michael L. Tan are also expected to grace the event and recognize ISSI’s role in promoting honor and excellence in the tradition of the University.
Meanwhile, Dr. Paterno V. Viloria, ISSI director from 1976 to 1979 and the current president of the Institute’s major private-sector partner Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation (SERDEF) will also be present to honor ISSI and SERDEF’s long-standing partnership.
Netherlands Ambassador Hon. Marion Derckx will be the guest of honor and revisit the longtime Philippine – Netherlands relation, which goes back to the story of how UP ISSI started.
Other notable guests who are expected to attend ISSI’s anniversary celebration include former ISSI directors Prof. Melito S. Salazar, Jr. (now dean of the School of Accountancy and Management of the Centro Escolar University) and Prof. Fortunato T. Dela Pena (now Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology), and Tony Tan Caktiong, founder, chair and chief executive officer of fast food giant Jollibee and alumnus of ISSI’s Manager’s Course.
The special invitation-only anniversary celebration also has in its roster of activities the giving of loyalty awards to past and present ISSI employees as well as the raffling of prizes for the guests.
