UP ISSI and PUP CAF Launch #upissiENTRELEAD to Empower MSMEs in Pasig City
The University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UP ISSI) successfully launched the #upissiENTRELEAD (Entrepreneurial Learning and Advisory Hub: COPE + GABAy Programs) in partnership with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines College of Accountancy and Finance (PUP CAF) and in collaboration with the Pasig City Local Economic Development and Investment Office (LEDIO).
The event opened with welcome remarks and a message of support from Mr. Crisostomo Ian Veron Cruz of Pasig LEDIO. This was followed by presentations from UP ISSI’s Training and Entrepreneurship Education Division (TEED): Ms. Allysa Anne De Guzman, COPE Program Manager, who discussed enterprise development and provided an overview of the ENTRELEAD Program; and Ms. Joanna Rose Laddaran, Officer-in-Charge of TEED, who shared insights on business continuity and resilience planning for MSMEs, emphasizing the importance of preparedness and sustainability in enterprise operations.
A major highlight of the event was the ceremonial signing of the partnership agreement between UP ISSI and PUP CAF. Present during the signing were, from PUP CAF: Dean Noel Bergonia, Dr. Ryan Roque, and Ms. Lyra Victoria Lascano; and from UP ISSI: Ms. Joanna Rose Laddaran, Ms. Allysa Anne De Guzman, and Ms. Janeve Ali-Miranda of the GABAy Program Team.
Following the signing, Dean Noel Bergonia delivered a message of support, underscoring the significance of academic-government collaboration in advancing the growth of MSMEs.
The PUP CAF mentor team, composed of Noel A. Bergonia, CPA, MBA; Marietta M. Doquenia, CPA, MBA; Lyra Victoria V. Lascano, CPA, MBA; Ariel E. Serrano, CPA, MBA; Catherine D. Sotto, CPA, PhD; and Ryan C. Roque, CPA, DBA, provided valuable assistance to MSMEs by addressing inquiries on financial management, financial planning, taxation, and regulatory compliance.
The whole-day event, hosted and facilitated by Mr. Ron Allan Estrebillo, concluded with Ms. Joanna Rose Laddaran highlighting the upcoming 2026 joint initiatives of UP ISSI and Pasig LEDIO, which aim to further strengthen and support the MSME sector in Pasig City.
